the strokes aren't a pop band and being on rough trade makes them an indie band so they deserve a little bit more respect (does the fact that i dislike the strokes prove to you - esp. lost child - that i do not work for, promote, or steal my opinions from the nme). the strokes are however 'tongue in cheek' that's what makes them so original. they exist as if it were between '65-'75 and don't take themselves fully seriously. look at the way they shoot their videos, sleazy TOTP style staging with 8mm camera effects.

newkid, i agree with every point you made. kerrang is what fuels these little newbo cunts and i fucking hate them, kerrang itself being a big nast mainstream publication that makes loads of unnecessary money. the nme is a great paper but the reviews are bollocks, there's only one person in there i trust and that's steven wells. electronica music is great when coming from someone like radiohead, the aphew twin, moloko or kosheen, can not be beaten. i am an indie kid, not one of these flavour of the months twats and i also love a bit of classical music, i wish you got more metal bands doing electric guitar versions of these classy tunes, a bit of moonlight sonata performed by kraftchlag wouldn't brighten up any wet weekend. i couldn't be bothered to read the whole string so i have nothing more to say apart from somewhere outside new york are a bloody brilliant band, very radioheadish and it's good to see them getting recognition. cheerio.
